Dated? The basic operations of multicast haven't changed...
A few commands have, and some syntaxes. But in the grand scheme of things,
once you understand the topic, that's the easy part.
As a few people have noted, it's a GREAT book (and easier to read than many
technical books!). But it goes into a lot of detail that those studying for
their CCIE lab don't care about.
If you want lab-oriented things (shameless plug) check out the CCIE
Practical Studies Vol 2. It is a little dated as well, as AFAIK a second
edition is not being worked on. But again, it covers all the basics for the
lab and explains things you'll run into and need to know. There are a few
newer commands not covered, but those are simpler to figure out either on
your own or through the archives here.
