I think use of
default-router command with the two gateways specified
in order
default-router <gateway 1 ip address> <gateway 2 ip
address>

along with irdp on the respective router interfaces is
the solution to this.

Configuring VRRP of HSRP or GLBP is an overkill..and
the exact requirement would govern the choice amongst
the three options.
