I have similar story. I passed my lab 1 month before
my son was born. I did't know what would I do if I'd
fail... Now I do know.

The thing is that kids they do take time, wonderfull
time from our life, just it does not mean you cannot
find time for your ccie study. Or any other things. I
amused and horrified (at the same time) by stories
then people `join a cult` to get CCIE and do not live
normal lives...

My son will be 2 years old in 4 months, and I plan to
go for second lab.

It just matter of planing your study time. I can
dedicate 2-3 hours every day (around 9pm-midnight) for
my study (right after gym 8-9pm %)) if I need to (I
don't feel I need that much now).

<quote>
- perseverance!
hard work!
and ... perseverance!

- you said perseverance twice

- because it takes twice more of perseverance than
hard work.
</quote>

The same with CCIE.
