Question related to ATM Encapsulation

Hi Team:

When we are picking an encapsulation type on atm
interface, is there a way to know which encapsulation
type we need to pick. I went over the ATM document on
CCO ,

 but I am still little bit confused, when to pick a
particular encapsulation e.g aal5snap
,aa5ciscoppp,etc. as I think by default it is aal5snap
.

I do apologize if its a very basic question. I just
want to clear my doubts.
