Hi,

It comes down to what the task asks you to do. Remember that configuring ISIS authentication on the interface only inserts the Authentication TLV in the IIH PDUs. If you wish to use authentication on your PSNPs, CSNPs and LSPs you have to configure that under the 'router isis' ..

Hope that helps,
Paresh.

Subject: ISIS MD5 authentication question?

Hello:

For ISIS MD5 authentication, is it ok in the Lab to just configure it under
the interface for either level-1 or level-2 - depending on the isis type.

In the config. guide, it clearly has it under the router isis also.

And same for clear text authentication too.

Are both reqd or just one?

Thanks.
