Kevin, this is the answer from ccie@cisco.com, it clearly says one
cannot 'save' in notepad, however maybe it varies at different
locations

This is true. Power failures are very rare and we also give you scratch
paper for notes. If the extremely unlikely event of a power failuer, most
racks are protected via UPS. If we do actually lose power to a rack, you
will be compensated some extra time to get back to where you were before
the power failure
