PPP over ATM

Hi group,

As I read encapsulation aal5ciscoppp is the special one for PPP over ATM
configuration.

so the configuration might be as below:

pvc0/100
encapsulation aal5ciscoppp Virtual-template 1.

I saw also such configuration for PP over ATM

pvc 0/100
encapsualtion aal5snap
protocol ppp Virtual-template 1.

Question if for example in the lab is told to configure ppp over atm which
encapsulation should we use??? We don't know the enc on the other side.

Could someone explain or comment the above two examples??? Thanks to
everybody.
