As advised, CHAP uses a shared secret. This means what you set as a
password in the CLI for chap has to be the same on both ends for it to
work. This is not the case with PAP or EAP, where you canset different
passwords on each end.

password it's just encrypted?

The One that passes the entire password is PAP in clear Text, CHAP only
passes the HASH of the password HTH
