Link state protocols do not need the split horizon mechanism.

Subject: OSPF Virtual Link - Violates Split Horizon!
Not sure if OSPF follows the Split Horizon rule but I noticed that OSPF
routers configured with Virtual Link re-advertise Area 0 learned routes
back into Area0 (over the same link from which those routes were
learned).
Doesn't that violate the split horizon rule and cause a potential for
routing loops?
