Chaps,
please can you guys just double check my thinking and lab work when it comes
to multicast
my lab
R1---R2----R3 in FR hub-spoke with R1 as HUB
R4 connected to R1
R5 connected to R3
R2 is always MA ( bottom left)
R4 has igmp join-group on it
the idea being that form R5 you have to go
R5-R3-R1-R4 to get to join group
Pim - Sparse
manual mapping
for all devices in your inet need to have the RP mapped ( including RP
itself)
auto-rp in sparse only mode , still needs to have manual RP mapped
# i have found that with sparse only i didn`t need a manual mapping for all
routers , my furthist away router R5 needed a manual mapping #
auto-rp in sparse-dense , No manual mapping
BSR in sparse , only no mapping
# i again found that i had to put my Ma R2 and candidate rp R1 on different
routers to get it to work #
TIA
steve
