If you set the reflector port to be the trunk or any other port that are
active you will shut that port down.. Rspan uses that port only to
encapsulate the packets and send

No the reflect port will not be useable to carry traffic.
Seems odd but thats how it works. I have asked
Cisco about it and the usual answer is its a hack
to do with the switch architecture.
