Dan,
I use the NTP server/client that's built into cisco routers and
switches.
The 2600/3600/3550 devices all support both NTP multicast server and NTP
multicast client.
It might not be quite as cool as streaming media, but it works for study
purposes...

That multimedia streamer looks interesting, but if you would prefer a
minimalist app, try mgen http://mgen.pf.itd.nrl.navy.mil/ It takes a
few minutes to become comfortable with the format of the scripts, but
once you do its easy to use.

Hi D,
I use VLC...
It's a free multimedia app, so I stream mp3 or video to a multicast
address as I feel...
Just make sure you increase the ttl value in the options otherwise it
will not work for you.
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
It also works on most OS'...
Cheers

Hello all,
I am looking for a tool which can generate multicast packets and can
also listen for them.
I need it for testing mutlicast, and pings are not good anough.
