Setting a local metric to an OSPF learned route.

Hello All,
I have a router that runs an OSPF process on one side and iBGP on the
other. I am propogating a prefix on my iBGP side, but this prefix is also
being learned over OSPF. As OSPF has a lower AD than IBGP, the OSPF learned
route is being installed into the route table.
As I traced the source of the route, which "should not" be in OSPF, I found
it to be a redistributed static route within my OSPF core. Later I learned
that removing this from OSPF would break a patch that someone put into
place...
Long story short, I am looking to "locally" increase the metric such that
the AD for the OSPF route is cost prohibitive, thus forcing the router to
use the iBGP route. Knowing that all packets entering this router, over ANY
interface should use the iBGP route, what are the potential caveats
associated with this action?
 Thank you.
