rip does a "sanity check" on updates it receives from other routers. Wen
rip gets updates from a source ip address that it doesn't expect, it drops
the update.

You can make rip stop performing this sanity check by using the command, no
validate ...."

Without knowing more about your topology, I couldn't tell you why rip says
the source is invalid.

Subject: RIP update errors

Hi group.
 I'm configuring RIPv2 over frame relay (R1 - R2). For some reason i dont
get the routes from R2. R1 is sending some routes to R2 which can be seen in
sh ip route of R2. But on R1 i dont get the R2 routes. The debug ip rip on
R1 shows, "RIP: ignored v2 update from bad source
192.1.140.2<http://192.1.140.2>on Serial1/0". Any idea what this error
means. There is nothing wrong with
the FR connectivity. The show fram map shows that PVC is up and i can ping
as well.
 Rasal.
