I wouldn't feel guilty at all for passing the first time! Feel proud about
it! (Then get pissed when a later test screws up your average! (grin))
As for the grading, it does not vary by location. There are scripts used,
but scripts get the "easy" grading things out of the way. Not everything on
your lab has black or white answers. Most things fall in a grey area. But
if you have a requirement of "no static routes" and there's any occurance of
"ip route ...", you screwed up. If the lab says your BGP table should look
like this table, and it doesn't. Well, that's a black and white thing.
Scripts are designed for those black and white things. The proctor will
grade the rest and will look at EVERYTHING on your lab. It's just if you
have already missed a huge chunk of the "black and white" things and can't
possibly pass the lab, it won't take much time to provide a score report.
If the script doesn't find much wrong, there's still a number of grey area
things to look at and that takes a long time to go through!
Every exam is looked at by a live human being though, and this is supposed
to be the same situation no matter which lab or which proctor that you have.

Subject: Re: RE: Three Test Minimum?
Since I passed my lab in my very first attempt I think i might come under
some fire from some people who might think I was lucky. The truth I should
admit is I was very very lucky. I guess some one said to pass in the first
time I must have come across technologies I am familiar with. My guess it is
true to a certain extent. I might have failed if I had got some irrelevant
to what I knew. Sometimes I feel guilty of passing the first time, when I
see so many of you failing it. I would have certainly learnt a lot more if I
had taken my lab twice or thrice. I just wish all the guys all the very best
for your exams. One thing I am certain about is if I get lucky the time I am
attempting my security exam(touch wood) I would definately go out to buy a
lottery ticket.
Someone mentioned the scoring is done using the tcl script, I would disagree
with it. I personaly asked the proctor the question during the lunch, he
confirmed it was done manually. My guess is it differs for locations. But i
am sure everything works fairly enough.
