ISIS will not redistribute directly connected interfaces even through you run ISIS on the interface. You need to manually redistribute the connected E0 in to RIP get it advertised. ISIS by default will redistribute only ISIS tagged routes from the routing table to a another routing process(unlike other protocols)

Subject: Redistribution Problem
My Topology ..
e0-----e0 e1---e1
R2-------R1------BB1
Note : This problem I observed while doing Lab 41 on IP Expert !!! However the
query is general one . If any body can help understand the things ... It would
be better !!!
I am Running ISIS between R2 and R1 . And RIP Between R1 and BB1
Task here is Redistribute ISIS network in to RIP domain . All IP address in R2
should be reachable to BB1 .
But What I am seeing is that !!! All address on R2 is propagated to BB1 except
R2 E0 Subnet !!!! When I trouble shooted this . I found E0's subnet is ISIS
database . But not installed in the routing table of R1 as ISIS route ( On R1
E0's Subnet is a connected subnet and not installed from ISIS Database ) .
Just wondering is this a correct behavior !!! Or Am I missing something
Pls. Note : Simple Ping from R2 uses E0 as source interface . BB1 is unaware
of this and hence ping was failing !!! Should we need to redistribute static
route also to get the any to any connectivity !!!
Thanks very much in advance !!!
Thanks and Regards
Arun
