If not configuring 'ip pim rp-address..." on the RP itself, it does not acept join.
*Mar 4 01:48:58: %PIM-6-INVALID_RP_JOIN: Received (*, 224.0.1.40) Join from 148.5.46.6 for invalid RP 24.24.24.24
Rack2R4(config-if)#
*Mar 4 01:56:55: %PIM-6-INVALID_RP_JOIN: Received (*, 224.0.1.40) Join from 148.5.46.6 for invalid RP 24.24.24.24
Williamson book says that a router, when receiving a shared three join toward one of its interfaces, concludes that it should play the role of RP.
But I remember something about changing on this behavior.
Tests on 12.2T confirms that it is necessary to configure RP on the RP itself.
Any comments appreciated.
