EIGRP NBMA Physical Multicasting ??

Service (SMDS) networks may or may not be considered to be NBMA. These
networks are considered NBMA if the interface has not been configured to use
physical multicasting; otherwise they are not considered NBMA.
   As far as I know --- if BW is less than T1, hello/hold timers for EIGRP
will be 60/180 otherwise 5/15 secs.
 Can anyone explain what the above sentence from Doc CD refers to ?
