Hi

I have a loopback interface in RIP. On the downstream router the route
seems to be added and then deleted and then added again according to the
following output:

*Mar 1 00:07:30.145: RT: delete route to 150.10.0.0 via 150.20.12.1,
rip metric [120/1]

*Mar 1 00:07:30.145: RT: no routes to 150.10.0.0, entering holddown

*Mar 1 00:08:27.087: RT: delete subnet route to 150.10.0.0/16

*Mar 1 00:08:27.087: RT: NET-RED 150.10.0.0/16

*Mar 1 00:08:27.087: RT: NET-RED queued, Queue size 1

*Mar 1 00:08:49.271: RT: network 150.10.0.0 is now variably masked

*Mar 1 00:08:49.271: RT: add 150.10.0.0/16 via 150.20.12.1, rip metric
[120/1]

*Mar 1 00:08:49.271: RT: NET-RED 150.10.0.0/16

*Mar 1 00:08:49.271: RT: NET-RED queued, Queue size 1

Why would a loopback do this?

Regards

Duane
