Hi, All
Some basic questions about RSVP since I don't have much real life
experience of it, I don't know if the questions are even making sense,
so forgive my ignorance, and here it goes:
1. if RSVP policy is different from PHB, for instance, if RSVP
reserved 10M out of 100M for IP prec 5 and router's local QoS policy
police IP prec 5 to 1M on it's FE interface which is on the RSVP
end-to-end path, what will RSVP do in terms of actions? sending
alarms?
2."RSVP works in conjunction with WFQ or RED"(from CCO), how does RSVP
signal WEQ/RED? just by enabling them? any examples?
3. if some applications require bandwidth through RSVP but didn't get
what they requested, what will RSVP do?
4. slightly OT, what aspects of RSVP are used for MPLS TE?
you see here, from my understanding(which is very basic), RSVP is just
a signalling protocol, it doesn't do the real work like PHB(policing,
shaping, wred, etc) does, so to me, RSVP is less useful comparing to
PHB, I could be wrong here, but who are using RSVP in the real world
other than MPLS TE?(which I don't know much why either)
Appreciate your feedback,
Pat
