Doug,
Symbol errors will increment when MAC sees "invalid" symbols. In most
cases, this is a physical problem - Gbics, fiber, etc. This can
increment even when the link is not up because the Mac isn't
synchronized and receives noise.
Rik,
I hope you opened up TAC case for these failures. They should atleast
identify the reason for your errors. If not, ask them to escalate the
case :)
