Now it's my turn to say that I've passed and it's my first attempt!!!
My thanks to my Lord and Savior, my wife and my kids. My family was
kind enough to let me have the last few months day in, day out to study
(after work, of course). There were many days that I despaired and felt
frustrated but I gained strength and the will to continue from my family
and from prayer.
I was fortunate enough to have an employer that allowed my to keep my
lab at work, so I didn't have to worry about the electricity bill and it
was always online and remotely accessible.
I haven't been a prolific poster but I've lurked on Groupstudy on and
off for the last 5 years or so. I always perked up when I saw posts
from Scott, Brian M., Brian D., Howard, Chuck (Thanks very much Chuck,
you came through for me), Bob Sinclair, Marvin. Those posts were to me,
a sort of indirect/virtual mentoring. Forgive me if I'm forgetting
anyone, my mind's in a state of shock. I'm glad I was able to take away
something from all of those posts. Guys, you are an invaluable part of
the Groupstudy community, my thanks to you all.
I left the lab in RTP today, knowing that I completed all the tasks but
unsure as to how accurate I was in interpreting the questions. Tom at
RTP is a wonderful proctor, very helpful and approachable. He even gave
me a quick view of the lab area on Tuesday and also answered a few
important questions regarding the lab environment, that I needed to
clear up. Thanks Tom.
I finished with about a 1/2 hour to spare, so I spent the remaining time
double-checking my configs. I did not reboot my routers as I didn't feel
it was necessary. My time spent with my own lab was extremely valuable
in removing uncertainties like this. I didn't use any ping scripts nor
aliases. I consulted the doc website, for small but important
requirements. I had a firm grounding with the core stuff so I didn't
have to do any research to get that working. Accuracy was critical for
me because I like to set things up once and not have to troubleshoot
later. It does require some thinking ahead and consideration of the
later questions.
The proctor's advice, and that of many others on this list, is to read
the entire test to get a feel for the questions. That's good, sound
advice. Use it to your advantage. Don't rush into the questions. I was
able to start slow and build up speed as things began coming together
(YMMV).
Best of luck on your attempt...
Good luck and happy studying...
