My 2 cents on exp of below solution. The reason Tim says to configure
"backup" command under sub-int is because only a sub-int can detect DLCI
failures, while the main interface cannot determine it. Main FR int only
communicated through LMI and can detect LMI failures, while sub-int can
detect DLCI not working end-to-end.
