Re: QoS on 3550. Applying police cir on a Vlan

Varthis,

I am pretty sure that the Catalyst 3550 does not support classification on
SVIs, VLANs directly, or Int PortChannels. AFAIK, all policies must be
applied on physical ports. When you do apply a policy outbound, the only
permitted match is on DSCP. Any other match must be applied inbound.

Subject: QoS on 3550. Applying police cir on a Vlan

  Hi group,

What if I want to limit some kind of traffic like a specific protocol
(icmp, or ftp for example) for a specific vlan and I want to apply the
  configuration on the 3550.

When I tried it on my own lab it is giving me the following :

%QM-4-MATCH_NOT_SUPPORTED: Match type is not supported in classmap (when
I tried to apply it on the vlan)
  or
%QM-4-CLASS_NOT_SUPPORTED: Classification is not supported in classmap
(when I tried to apply it on an interface which was an access port for
  the specific vlan)

  My configuration is like:

  class-map test
    match access-group 100
  !
  policy-map test
   class test
     police cir 64000
  !
access-list 100 permit icmp any any
  !
  int vlan 10
    service-policy output test

  or

  int range fa0/10 - 11
    service-policy output test

On both I am getting error messages like the above.

Any ideas on how could I accomplish this?

  Thanks in advance.

  Best Regards,

  Varthis
