If you killed a link, you'll get a TCN (Topology Change Notification) which
kicks affected areas back to listening 'n' learning at 15 seconds a piece.
The max age isn't a factor in link loss.

Scott

Subject: Spanning Tree Reconvergence
Has any one actually timed the SPT reconvergence of a cat 3550? I timed it
to exactly 30 seconds, on a default configuration of a couple trunk links.
I had been reading on DOC CD that the convergence on a switch is 2(Forward
Delay time) + Max age time = 50 seconds. Why am I coming up short 20
seconds? Could not find anything in the archives.
If any one can shed some light, I would be eternally grateful.
