Hi Tim,

Have you tried running eigrp between two routers with neighbor command(only on one side, assuming other side is backbone) and make it work. I just wanted to make eigrp unicast update between two routers.

thanks

You can't use passive int with eigrp and have an adj over that same int - it
will prevent adj from forming over that interface because it prevents ALL
eigrp traffic out that interface.

However, when you use nei with eigrp it will STOP mcast hello's and updates
and use unicast instead. Remember this works differently than RIP.

Another difference betw eigrp and rip is that with eigrp, you really don't
ever need to use the passive int command because you have the option of
using the 0.0.0.0 mask with your network command. This allows you to be very
precise in defining over which int's eigrp will run.

If adj aren't forming with eigrp, make sure both neighbors are in the same
AS, make sure the hello and hold-downs intervals are the same and make sure
you haven't mis-typed the subnet.

HTH, Tim

Subject: unicasting routing updates via RIP and EIGRP

Hi GS team,

EIGRP:
How can we send a unicast routing updates via eigrp. I tried with neighbor
command and is not working[as soon as neighbor command is given , there is
no neighbor relationship and passive has no meaning in eigrp]

RIP:
To send unicast routing updates via rip we can use one of the following
methods
1.neighbor/passive combination or
2.use NAT feature

thanks
