Hi guys,
I'm trying to understand when to use the above command. I understand what
the interface command, ip cgmp, does but I'm not 100% on the proxy part.
Let me see if this example illustrates the use of this command. If not, I
hope someone will correct me.

Cat 5k
Since the Cat 5k doesn't support igmp snooping (or it's a very bad to use
it), cgmp should be used instead.
Now, since there are 3 routers connected to vlan X, I could either
a) configure ip cgmp 3 times - once on each router's interface connecting
to vlan X or
b) configure ip cgmp proxy just once - on any router's interface connected
to vlan X
If I use option b, I negate the need to configure ip cgmp on the other 2
routers because the router where ip cgmp proxy is configured will send the
info the Cat5k needs on behalf of the other routers.
Is this correct?
Is there anything else I should be aware of when using ip cgmp proxy?
TIA, Tim
