Ivan,
Not tried option 1, but option 2 with multicast helper would certainly work

Subject: Alternatives when doing multicast over non multicast network
Hello group,
I was thinking about alternatives when doing multicast over non multicast
netwok. Let's say like this:
R1----------R2-----------R3---------R4--clients
R1 is a multicast source while R3 does not "speak" multicast. I've tried
using
GRE tunnel over between R2 and R4, and that works ok. Since this is a
preparation for the lab, I've tried to find some alternatives. I was
thinking
about following:
1) do destination nat on R2 to some address on R4 and then back to multicast
address on R4 so the clients would receive multicast
2) use a multicast helper to transport multicast trough R3 as a broadcast.
Did anyone tried that? Does it work?
Regards,
Ivan
