I don't know, call me old fashion, but I am doing my R&S before the
voice. I am a Voice consultant, it is all I do at work, but I know that
the majority of my work entails major overhauls to network designs for
integration and implementation for Voice networks.

I believe that the R&S is the cornerstone of CCIE. I also think that it
should be the first prerequisite in going after the other 4 CCIE certs.
As a CCIE, you are still held to a higher standard when introduced to a
customer. You are still put under an umbrella that says "I can
Network".

Yeah, it is a lot harder for most of us to go after one before the
other, I just want to make sure that when I talk to one of my clients
that I can talk the full spectrum of networking and perform as well
before I start talking about CCM placement and all the feature sets that
come with it. As well, the security and QoS involved with ensuring that
your voice topology is a perfect compliment to your network
infrastructure.

...Just my two cents

Subject: CCIE Voice written vs CCVP

Hi Group,

In parallel to my ongoing R & S lab exam prep, I am planning to start
working on Voice written track as well since it become really relevant
to
my work front with upcoming IP Tel roll out on our WAN. I was discussing

this matter with our SE and he mentioned about doing CCVP instead to get
me
going on the ground. But when I looked at the CCVP details , I realized
that
I got to do 5 exams , Cvoice , IP Telephony , T/shooting , Qos and
Gatekeeper/Gateway. And that is a long journey both in terms of time and

money required.

So I am just thinking with some preliminary knowledge under the belt on
CM,
Gateway , Qos and Transcoder functionality , I am thinking I should go
for
CCIE Voice written exam directly instead. Am I on right kind of thinking
?
Or these 2 tracks ( Voice written and CCVP) have separate strengths who
may
or may not compliment each other.

Secondly can any please suggest best CCIE Voice written exam
certification
guide ?Thirdly is there any vendor out there who is offering these CCVP
courses online , just like they do with CCIE track courses ?

Thanks heaps :-)

- Cheers

David.
