Mani,

I'm glad you noticed that.

I had seen Kuldip's response and wasn't able to decide if I should anything.

Let me rephrase the question this way:

Will both A and B work or only A?

(A.) snmp-server enable traps

       snmp-server host 1.1.1.100 traps

(B.) snmp-server host 1.1.1.100 traps

This question comes from IE lab 20.

The Solution shows B but I can't test this and this is something that can
easily cost valuable points in the lab.

Personally, I believe A must be used because unless traps are enabled
globally I think no traps will be sent.

What do you think?

Thanks for your attention to detail.

Tim

Hi Kuldip,

If I am right, Tim's question is ,

Do we have to configure

(A.)snmp-server enable traps

snmp-server host 1.1.1.100 traps vty

(B.)snmp-server host 1.1.1.100 traps vty-->Is it right or do we need to
enable traps globally

Hi Tim,

The SNMP-SERVER HOST command specifies which hosts will receive SNMP
notifications, and whether you want the notifications sent as traps or
inform requests.

The SNMP-SERVER ENABLE TRAPS command globally enables the production
mechanism for the specified notification types (such as Border Gateway
Protocol [BGP] traps, config traps, entity traps, Hot Standby Router
Protocol [HSRP] traps, and so on).
