RE: Class-Based Weighted Fair Queueing

Hans,

Not sure I fully understand you question, but here we go.

When you define a class other than the default-class and you input the
bandwidth command, then this class is just one queue in itself.

So the class/queue is treated as FIFO with Tail Drop. The Tail drop
behaviour can be modified with introduction of WRED. The important point to
note is that each Class (other than Default) is FIFO.

Now the Default-class can be configured with Fair-queue. By adopting this
method on the default class, all traffic heading for this queue will be
treated in the classical Fair queueing method - ie traffic will be
identified into flows and weighted on precedence and packet size.

All,

Still have questions on this one.

Normally when class is defined, the number of queues and the size of each of
individual queue are associated with that class. This is show in the default
class configuration

However, for the non default class, the size of the queue is defined by
wred, but how is the class associated with the number of queues? Is that
related to the "bandwidth" commnad?

Thanks,
