Lee,
My understanding is if you pass your CCIE written it will re-certifier
any lower certification. Check the CCIE FAQ page at

towards recertification of CCNA, CCNP, or other Cisco certifications?

Certifications (such as CCNP, CCSP, CCDP, CCIP or CCNA, CCDA, or Cisco
Qualified Specialist certifications). "
