Most p2p protocols have numerous ports assositated
with them , for example alot of times with msn
messenger and other real time messaging proggies , you
can chat but not accept a download , if you are behind
a firewall , that say doesnt let the msn transfer for
file port through you wouldnt be able to transfer
files , but chat just fine , because with proggies
such as msn each person makes an oubound connection to
there local firewall to an msn proxy server ,and
connect through that common point , but when say you
send a file to someone through msn messenger that
session is sourced from the outside of the firewall
and unless that port is permitted inbound from the
inet you can transfer files ...... so to the issue at
hand I would say that it is the same thing , users can
make gnuttela requests to the search servers out there
as they are behind firewall , but cannot transfer
files .. so you have 2 options there .... block all or
only files transfers...........
