Hi ,

Cant seems to get the EOMPLS/VPWS - xconnet commands configured on the
gigabit interfaces when there is IP addresses applied to them on the PE
kit
ie. PE sub-interface to CE equipement - Which is running OSPF with the
CE to transport the Layer3

The command is rejected based on :

bla-pe-01(config)#interface GigabitEthernet2/3/0.10
bla-pe-01(config-subif)#xconnect 10.160.160.9 10 encapsulation mpls
Incompatible with ip address command on Gi2/3/0.10 - command rejected.

There Gig card product id card we have is EPA-ge-fe-bbrd

Is the point below in an issue ??? Is it saying we cant do layer3 and
layer2 at the same time on the same card.

Thoughts...????

Restrictions

The following restrictions pertain to the Ethernet over MPLS feature:

* Maximum Transmission Unit: Because Ethernet over MPLS does not
allow packets to be fragmented and reassembled, ensure that the maximum
transmission unit (MTU) of all intermediate links between endpoints is
sufficient to carry the largest Layer 2 VLAN cell received. The ingress
and egress PE routers must have the same MTU value. The Cisco 12000
Series 3-Port Gigabit Ethernet Line Card supports 2450 bytes as the
maximum frame size on core-facing interfaces.
* Supported Platforms: The instructions for configuring Ethernet
over MPLS in this feature module apply only to the Cisco 12000 series
router for 12.0(21)ST. Avoid using these instructions for any other
platform or release.
* Address Format: PE routers must be configured with 32-bit masks
to ensure proper operation of MPLS forwarding between PE routers.
* Packet Format: Ethernet over MPLS supports VLAN packets that
conform to the IEEE's 802.1Q standard. The 802.1Q specification
establishes a standard method for inserting VLAN membership information
into Ethernet frames.ISL is not supported between the PE and CE routers.

* Configuring on Subinterfaces: For the Cisco 12000 Series router,
you must enable Ethernet over MPLS on the imposition subinterfaces of
the router. The disposition interface does not need to be a
subinterface. Make sure to specify the mpls l2transport route command on
a 802.1Q subinterface.
* Line Card Support: When Ethernet over MPLS is enabled on a line
card, no other feature can be enabled. The line card is dedicated solely
to the transporting Ethernet VLAN packets over an MPLS backbone.
* Implicit Null Labels: Ethernet over MPLS supports implicit null
labels only. Explicit null labels are not supported.
