Hi,
I'm considering purchasing a replacement for my old ISA server (ISA2000).
I'm currently studying how PIX would benefit my choice when deciding to go
for a hardwarebased Firewall. But from various sides I get this other option
thrown at me: It started at the rivalry between PIX and Checkpoint: " who
has the easier setup or the better GUI?" But when SonicWall came to the (my)
scene, it was all of a sudden a moneything: knowing from the reviews that
SonicWall isn't THAT bad for that small amount of money.
I'm not sure if one of you had some similar situations when it came to
decisionmaking and option weighing for your company, but maybe one of you
can shed some light on this matter..
Thanks,
Gordon Mac Donald

Subject: Re: PIX with multiple vlan
Here is the URL. It details what models support VLAN's as well as how
many each version supports.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/secursw/ps2120/products_configuration
_guide_chapter09186a0080172786.html#wp1113411
You will need to do it in order as well.
1) Create the VLAN interface
interface ethenetX vlanY [logical|physical]
2) name the new interface and assign a security level
nameif vlanY NAME securityZ
3) give it an IP address
ip address NAME 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
For security reasons you should read up on when to configure an
interface as logical vs. physical
