Alright... I know that I am very close to getting this thing passed. I
just finished trial number 3 only to be hampered by the same two areas
as past labs.

I'm trying to be honest with myself and work out my difficiencies so I
can focus effectively. Here are my issues.

Security and QoS.

Now these seem to be interrelated to me because I usually mess up on
matching applications and traffic. I thought I had it stright with
Brians input last time about how to block traffic, especially if I don't
know where its coming from, who the clients and servers are/reside in a
network. I think I'm just making this a lot harder than it is.

Specifically, I need help/practice in the following areas:

1. Matching traffic patterns for access lists with applications and
without applications

2. Many examples of CBWFQ for providing various QoS capabilities with
understanding of why we use them. I'd try using examples myself, but
without the proper understanding of the end to end picture that I'm
trying to accomplish I have a hard time implementing practice lab
requirements. IOW, this part of the exam is usually a little over my
head cause I think I'm being asked a very specific question so I provide
a specific answer, only to find later that I was way off the mark
because the real answer was probably more vague. The best example of
this was Marvin who asked me what I'd do if I were asked to match mail
traffic and reserve some BW for it. I was shocked that he started
including applications other than SMTP in his response (like POP3,
exchange, Notes, etc.) I don't know if I'm the only one, but it just
doesn't occur to me that these are also things I would be asked to
include....

So... with that said, any guidance for these areas would be great and
much appreciated.

PS. I've read the doccd over and over, but keep missing the point
trying to derive the "true" requirements from a set of instructions from
those I "think" are being asked for...

Thanks in advance,

Andy
