Hi all,
I've attempted and passed my first CCIE lab exam in Sydney on Monday.
What a big relieve it was after it was all over. I must say the preparation
for the exam was the toughest and most grueling part of the whole process of
attaining CCIE.
I would like to thank the contributors to GroupStudy especially the
2 Brians, Scott, Paul, Chuck & Tim. Also thanks to Marc Van Hoof for sharing
some test taking strategies (Good luck for your Security exam).
The proctor (Yusuf), was really friendly and helpful throughout the lab, a
big thanks to him too.
The study material that I used are :-
- IE Workbook (without which, I would surely have failed!). Although I
didn't get a chance to finish all the 20 labs, I felt that it was damn worth
the $$$. Highly recommended.
- CiscoPress books - CCIE PS vol 1 & 2, Troubleshooting IP Routing Proto,
Troubleshooting Remote Access Net., Routing TCP/IP vol 1 & 2, BGP design &
implementation, Cisco LAN switching, Internet Routing Architecture and a few
others.
- RackTimeRentals racks. Highly recommended too. Great support from Bill.
- Some old routers (2500s, 2600s & 4000s) & switches that was made
accessible to me for testing. (Thanks guys... you know who you are ;) ;) )
And finally, some tips for the exam from me...
- Don't bother drawing your own diagram. Whatever provided is more than
enough.
- Don't waste time on small issues/problems. You can always come back to it
later.
- Don't forget to check with the proctor if you suspect you have a faulty
device.
Good luck to all who are about to take the exam!!
Cheers,
John
p/s: Nico & Emer, how did you guys do?
