RE: Distribution lists on OSPF

I have tried this in the past with limited success. The inbound distribution list works if you do not specify an interface. For example:
 
distribution-list 1 in
 
But if you use the form:
 
distribution-list 1 in serial 1
 
Preventing the route that from using S1, neither route is blocked.
 
So it is possible to totally block a route from appearing in the forwarding table, but I need to only prevent one of the two pathways.
 
Suggestion?

Actually you can do this with a distribute-list inbound. It
will not remove the LSA from the database but it will remove its
associated route from the routing table. Note that other routers in the
area will still have the LSA, and therefore this type of configuration
may result in a traffic black hole.
