KNOPPIX can recover a lost Win2k pass? Firesox doesn't mention this, but I'm
assuming that the partition is NTFS...KNOPPIX can read NTFS partitions?

ERD commander is a commercial product and cost way to much money there are
plenty of utils out there that do this for free , KNOPPIX being the most
notable , why spend $200 plus dollars when you can do it for free and have a
valuable tool that will perform MUCH more that simply resetting a password.

Firesox,

I'm going to keep it short and to the point. There is no way to recover the
old password from a windows machine. The best you can do is reset it. The
best utility for this is called ERD commander. It has many utilities within
it. The manufacturers are a company called Winternals. Look them up at
www.winternals.com . The only down side to this is the fact that there is a
price to paid (if you are getting a legal copy, and that is the only type of
copy that people on this list get :). Hope this helps

Fellows,
Sorry for the OT, but I am desperately in need for password recovery for
Windows 2000 Professional.

Thia machine is not on the Network and the user doesn't remember his own
password or administrator password.

All article I saw on Microsoft suggests you cannot recover the lost password

without installing the fresh OS.

Is there any way to login and at least save some files?

Thanks a bunch.
