I will check at work on our network managent server to see

where traps password and community password are configured.

Hi,

The three "passwords" relate to the different ways you can use SNMP and
traps. You configure your NMS by referencing the community password. If
you want to access the devices using SNMP and perform read only operations
then specify that password. If you need to perform read/write functions
then specify that password. Those are configured either globally in your
NMS if it supports it or else you specify it for each device individually.
The traps are used to send your NMS information about specific types of
events that trigger the traps. Not sure if that fully answers your question
or not. If not please advise.

Thanks,

Ian

There seem to be 3 types of passwords for SNMP on the router: community
read, community write and trap .

On the network management station (Cisco Works, SNMPc etc ...) is there a
location where those values are entered?

thanks
