Using the vconsole 4 port isdn simulator in a legacy configuration I have
come to the conclusion that both bri interfaces need to have either a
dialer-map or dialer string statement for Layer 3 to Layer 2 resolution.....
If I do not say on R1 put a dialer-map statement pointing to R2 , and ping
from R1 to R2 the call comes up but Ping fails , as soon as dialer map is
put ont R2 to R1 ping works fine............. This looks like both sides
required layer 3 to layer 2 resolution..... Now on page 15 of IE solution
guide for Lab 1 it is infering to a "dynamic" method of layer 3 to layer 2
mapping ...... I interpret this as only one router needs to map to the other
, as the one without the layer 3 to layer 2 resolution will dynmaically
learn it from the calling router once the call is successfull ???? How do
others interpret this ???
