Hi Group,
The following are to be configured for snmp. This sample is from IE-WB.
NMS1=10.10.10.1
NMS2=10.10.10.2
RO COMMUNITITY STRING ROO, CISCCC FOR TRAPS
RW COMMUNITY STRING RWW, CISCCC FOR TRAPS
NMS1 only traps related to hsrp
NMS2 no restrictions for traps
=========================
Sample config given on the work book:
snmp-server community ROO ro 2
snmp-server community RWW rw 2
snmp-server host 10.10.10.1 CISCCC
snmp-server host 10.10.10.2 CISCCC hsrp
access-list 2 permit 10.10.10.1
access-list 2 permit 10.10.10.2
===========================
Guys do we need snmp-server enable traps(first command)or snmp-server enable traps hsrp(second command) command to complete the above config. If you put the second command it is going to send only traps related to hsrp for both NMS1 and NMS2, but if you put the first command, all traps are sent to both NMS1 and NMS2, but NMS2 will listen only traps related to hsrp while NMS1 can listen to all traps. So in a nutshell, we need snmp-server enable traps command. I would like to verify this. Any good answers are appriciated. Thanks in advance for Brian, Scott, Tim and all Guru's.
