RE: CCIE Written versus CCNP recert [bcc][faked-from]

Actually I have a question about the recert. Having been ccnp since 2000 and
taken the lab once. I do have a question about the policy. Lets say for
example your ccnp recert is coming up and you take the ccie written to renew
the ccnp instead but you don't take a lab in the 18 months for whatever
reason does your ccnp still stay active for the three years or until you
take your first lab.

Can you just use the ccie written for a full three year recert of the ccnp
if you don't decide to go to the lab for other reasons afterwards???

From what I've heard recently, the latest CCIE written test is a lot more
inline with the lab, and should be released sometime before the end of the
calendar year.

Of course, if you just pass the lab, you won't have to worry about either
recert for a while.

This is going to sound a little pessimistic, but here you go.

I am doing my next lab attempt on the 16th of November (in Brussels if
anyone else is going).

My CCNP recert is up on November 27th, and my CCIE written expires in
January.

If I fail - should I do the CCNP recert or the CCIE written - I reckon I
should pass the CCNP recert on my head from some of the comments on the list
(it's about what we're doing on the lab exam) but the CCIE written still
contains wierd stuff like DECNET and Token Ring.

Thoughts?
