RE: Cable Routers and DOCSIS

The whole ICCR course is essentially online. At least the previous version.
There is the RF Fundamentals portion, the DOCSIS 1.1 (which really includes
1.0 (remember INTRO!)), the uBR7200's, and the uBR10K's. That was the
previous version of the ICCR Course.

The current (3.0) version includes some enhancements to the DOCSIS module
regarding DOCSIS 2.0. It also adds a Cable Security Module and a
PacketCable Overview module in case you have the desire to think about voice
deployment. (Are you an MSO, or end user, by the way?)

Remember though, it is an Intro course. While there are some complicated
things discussed in there, that's more because it's all new! To the
seasoned RF/Cable person, that's not incredibly deep. There is no in depth
discussions on the queuing mechanisms, or a huge breakdown of how the timing
slices work with the granting mechanisms, or other tweaks/details like that.

We had on plan to create an Advanced DOCSIS course, but the demand/interest
never really materialized.

If you desire that sort of information, you are really in the "make it up as
you go along" category. You may also want to check out the training
available from the SCTE as that's really their area. You'll certainly find
a lot of RF-centric information there! (www.scte.org)

Thank you all for the replies.

I actually found "Introduction to DOCSIS 1.1" on PEC and guess who is the
instructor? ;-) (Is it safe to start with this one? So far I know that
DOCSIS 1.0 has no QoS, 1.0+ has one basic "priority queue", and DOCSIS 1.1
has plenty of QoS).

I could not find ICCR available online though.
