I'll chime in ;-) Here is a configuration of a router using a PVC to
communicate with an LS1010.

<Router-Config>
Rack1R6#sho run int atm0/0/0
Building configuration...

Current configuration : 101 bytes
!
interface ATM0/0/0
 ip address 172.16.1.1 255.255.255.0
 no atm ilmi-keepalive
 pvc 0/500
 !
end

Rack1R6#sho atm map
Map list ATM0/0/0_ATM_INARP : DYNAMIC
ip 172.16.1.10 maps to VC 1, VPI 0, VCI 500, ATM0/0/0

Rack1R6#ping 172.16.1.10

Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 172.16.1.10, timeout is 2 seconds:
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/2/4 ms
Rack1R6#telnet 172.16.1.10
Trying 172.16.1.10 ... Open

User Access Verification

Password:
LS1010>exit

[Connection to 172.16.1.10 closed by foreign host]
Rack1R6#
</Router-Config>

<LS1010-Config>
LS1010#sho run int atm0/0/0
Building configuration...

Current configuration:
!
interface ATM0/0/0
 description ATM to Rack1R6 ATM 0/0/0
end

LS1010#sho run int atm2/0/0
Building configuration...

Current configuration:
!
interface ATM2/0/0
 ip address 172.16.1.10 255.255.255.0
 atm pvc 0 500 encap aal5snap interface ATM0/0/0 0 500
end

LS1010#sho atm map
Map list LS1010 : PERMANENT
ip 172.16.1.1 maps to VC 32
        , broadcast

LS1010#ping 172.16.1.1

Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 172.16.1.1, timeout is 2 seconds:
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/2/4 ms
LS1010#
</LS1010-Config>

That's a good question. What will activate the other end of the PVC. I
have configured a 1010 from scratch
(sorta like a frame-relay switch) but I can't remember anything like
that.
You will need another router.
I guess the thinking would be to make the 1010 act as a Backbone
router...I
believe when you configure the
ATM device you are switching traffic from one interface to the other.

Nope

I don't think you can do it....but someone might chime in on this one

Hi

I've been looking for this on the net and archives but nothing to find.
Is
it possible to setup a PVC between a Router with atm module and a
LS1010?
Just that I don't have a second router with atm :)

Thx
Mark
