I am thinking if you are not supposed to enable multicast on the router
interface, is the router interface an Ethernet based interface and connected
to a Cat 3550?
If it is could it be that the answer is using the storm control(multicast)
features of the 3550?
Just a thought!
A penny for anyone's thoughts out there!

Bola

Subject: About Multicast rate-limit ???
hi group ,
The problem i am encountering says that we have
to rate-limit multicast traffic to 1 MB but the
question also says indirectly that multicast should
not be enabled on the interface (i.e we are not
suppose to use ' ip pim sparse/dense mode ') ...
In such a case .. how should we formulate the
solutions ???
Should we not care about enabling multicast on that
interface and just give the ' ip multicast-ratelimit
' ????
By doing this i guess the multicast traffic
comming on the interface will be dropped ...
OR is there any work around for this solution ????
U suggestions needed
Thanx ,
imran .
