Excellent point!
In case of GRE tunneling where both routers are directly connected
by a physical media, but are on different area, this concern is not
necessary. But in a multi-hop gre tunnel, one must ensure the address
routed over the tunnel does not interfere with the tunneling endpoints.
This can be done via static route as a popular method, but static
route is usually not permitted in the lab tests, therefore you must
devise a secondary plan to do that. Think route-filters, AD and other
tools that are available to you.
