Hi Brian,
For callback option, does it only effective in router which initiates the
callback or the router being callbacked?
For example router A initiates call to B and B callback A scenario, what
part of q931 communication will be authenticated if callback option is
placed in router A or router B?
Thanks alot,
BBD

Oliver,
The "callout" option would have the local router authenticate
the remote device when the call is treated as outbound. It is one of
the more unusual options to see used in the real world.
ppp authentication chap
Authenticate remote on callback
Authenticate remote on incoming call
Authenticate remote on outgoing call
ppp authentication chap callin
Authenticate remote on incoming call only
ppp authentication chap callout
Authenticate remote on outgoing call only
ppp authentication chap callback
Authenticate remote on callback only

Subject: PPP auth chap callin
Hi Group,
I have a question regarding the above command. If say Im On Router A and
I
call an ISP router routerB with the above command on a DDR interface
then my
router router A will not challenge the ISP's router using CHAP. If this
is
true (its only my understanding) then where would one use the command
"ppp
auth chap callout"
any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Ollie.
