It depends on exactly what you're trying to accomplish.
But, I once worked on a project for the Veterans Administration and they
used a 2500 for something similar.
They were using a few hundred Windows PC's and it was one big switched
environment. The PC's were in different ip subnets and when netbios wasn't
used, the router would route between the different subnets. This was done
by having - I kid you not - something like 25 subnets defined on the
ethernet interface using 2ndary addresses.
It was a awful design but it worked.
