Hi Group,
(1.)If there are three routers(R1, R2, R3), R1 is running RIP and R2 is running RIP and EIGRP and mutually redistributes between them and R3 is running only EIGRP(R1rip-----R2rip&eigrp----R3eigrp). Please give feedback about default network command and default route advertised to R2(Brain earliar sent a good URL)
R1 config:
int lo 0
ip address 144.4.4.4 255.255.255.0
int lo 1
ip address 144.4.44.44 255.255.255.0
ip default-network 144.4.4.0
ip default-network 144.4.44.0
ip default-network 144.4.0.0
First two default network commands created two static routes on the router and last command(classful) made two candidate defalt routes on R1. I can see the RIP generated defalt route on the R3(eigrp router) and D EX entry. Guys which network will be used by R3 as a gateway of last resort(is it 144.4.4.0 or 144.4.44.4). On R1 how can we make one candidate default route to prefer over the other).
(2.)Guys for eigrp to generate a default route is there is any other way other than, (-if)#ip summary-address eigrp as# 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 command.
PS: I haven't tried ip default-network command with eigrp and I don't think there is a support for default information-originate command in eigrp.
thanks in advance
Mani
